Recipe for a Summer Afternoon Short Story.
by Gayle K. Hobbs
Take a bowl full of words and phrases
Stir until sentences form.
Drop in a couple of interesting characters
Add a few descriptive details and shake delicately
While the story firms up, pepper in a few shavings of intrigue and mystery.
Simmer in the summer afternoon shade.
Right before the story is completely done, add a tablespoon of humor and a dash of irony.
This will complete your vacation short story.
Serve with a tall glass of ice tea and
Enjoy.
I am glad to see that you are still blogging–we spoke a little via my blog two years ago when you were just getting started with yours: http://blanchetblog.net/2009/08/08/extreme-classroom-makeover/
I just wanted to let you know that I have since recommended Spaces & Places to all my teacher-friends as my bible for classroom organization. I have been trying to contact you for a few days to see if you would be interested in being a guest on a web show I am starting called the “Super Teacher Show”. It is a show about issues facing teachers, and I would love to have you come on for the back-to-school show to give advice and ideas about classroom setup. Please check out the site at http://superteachershow.net and email me if you are interested! I hope to hear from you soon, I would be elated to have you on!
Hi Tinashe! Great to hear from you. I still remember how to pronounce your name, too. (: Thank you for recommending my book to others! Sorry that my schedule will not allow me to be on your web show right now. With school back in session, my days are filled with classroom visits and workshops and my evenings are filled with writing, reflection, and exercise! I will check out your sites and share them with others. Thank you for keeping in touch!
