I decided to venture out while in Fayetteville, AR and see a bit of the town. One day the coaches took me to Penguin Ed’s Barbecue, a local establishment. Fun place and good food. I also strolled around the historic downtown area and enjoyed the gardens growing there. Too bad I missed the farmer’s market during the day, but I was there to work!
In the evening, I happened upon a new store that had recently opened called “Nordic Moods.” It’s owned by a Norwegian named Camilla who was working there and helped me find a great outdoors skirt (much cooler than shorts, in my opinion) from a Bergans of Norway. As we chatted, her husband, Matthew, came into the shop from his adjoining restaurant, Hjem, which was having their grand opening that very evening. They invited me to join them when I told them I might check it out. So glad I did!
Had dinner at Hjem, which means “home” in Norweigan. Wonderful halibut cheeks with leeks. Love the rhyme! The company was fabulous, too. Enjoyed my evening with Camilla and Mr. M (from Norway), Marie (from Sweden), and Claudio (from Italy). International flavor in NW Arkansas. A memorable trip. Thanks, Matthew, for a delicious dinner!
