A while ago, I saw a great display at a gift shop in Houston called Impromptu. The owner had framed necklaces hanging on burlap. I knew that eventually I was going to give that a try.
This weekend was the one! I started out early at a local antiques dealer and bought two huge gilded gold frames for $12 each from The Queen of Cheap (who could resist a name like that!). The frames were slightly chipped, but that’s part of their shabby chic appeal. Then I went to Michael’s Crafts and got 2 large pieces of foamboard. Last stop: JoAnn Fabrics for white burlap @ $2.99/yard. I only needed 5/8 yard for 2 frames. What a deal! And I got some “tidy pins” for hanging the necklaces.
When I got home, this project only took about 30 minutes to complete. I measured and cut the foamboard to fit inside the frame. Then I cut a piece of burlap and covered the board with it, gluing the edges down with Tacky glue and then stapling them. From there, I pushed the board into the frame and attached the necklaces with tidy pins. Voila! A great display board! I liked the idea so much that I made two. Now I can see my favorite necklaces at a glance in my newly organized closet.
