In 1996, Boyds Mills Press published a wonderful anthology of poetry called A Jar of Tiny Stars: Poems by NCTE Award-Winning Poets edited by Bernice E. Cullinan. This book includes many poems by some of my favorite poets and has information about each poet preceding some of each poet’s work. Here’s a sample:
Snowman
by David McCordÂ
My little snowman has a mouth,
So he is always smiling south.
My little snowman has a nose;
I couldn’t seem to give him toes,
I couldn’t seem to make his ears.
He shed a lot of frozen tears
Before I gave him any eyes–
But they are big ones for his size.
