Connections are such an important part of our teaching– and of our lives. Here’s a poem about connecting that I found recently in a book called Teaching with Fire: Poetry That Sustains the Courage to Teach edited by Sam M. Intrator and Megan Scribner:
These Days
whatever you have to say, leave
the roots on, let them
dangle
And the dirt
Just to make clear
where they come from
-Charles Olson
Ah. Lovely, and in so few words.
I’ll try to remind to leave the roots—and the dirt—on my thoughts and words.
always loved this one. thanks for the share.
Mmmm….the gardener in my loves that metaphor.
